Samaria Gorge from Plakias

Quick Overview

Visit Crete's pride and Europe's longest gorge (16km)
Samaria National Park is an important nature reserve, with a variety of natural features, including wild flowers, hundred-year-old trees, stone formations and crystal clear water springs.
Maybe you are lucky to see as well the Cretan's wild goat Kri-Kri. The hike starts at the height of 1200 m on the Omalos plateau. Don't miss the chance to take a photo the most famous part of the gorge - at the Iron Gates.
The hike takes about 4-5 hours, depends on your pace. Your tour assistant is passing the gorge as well for your safety. At the end of the gorge, in the village of Agia Roumeli you will have time to eat and relax on the beach, before boarding the ferry to Chora Sfakion.
From there you return to Plakias with the bus along the south coast.
