Festos Gortys Matala from Plakias
Visit to the second most important minoan palace in Crete – Festos, where the famous disc of Phaistos was found and one of the oldest settlement and the capital of Crete during Roman times – Gortys, where you can see the Odeon ruins, Basilica of St.Titos and the most ancient civil code in Europe.
After visiting those two important archaeological places, you will drive to Matala, which is famous due to the hippies that stayed in the caves during the 70ties and where you can visit the Neolithic caves, have lunch and enjoy the beautiful beach.
On the way back you will stop at the traditional Cretan village of Spili to see the famous Venetian fountains with lion heads and have the opportunity to shop for traditional Cretan products that can be found in the local shops.
