Sailing from Imerolia your cruise to the picturesque capital of Corfu will take approximately one and a half hours on our spacious comfortable boat.
The cruise will take you passed the harbour of Kassiopi, along the north east coast, famous for its luxury villas and beautiful scenery. Looking inland across the olive-clad slopes cast the eyes upwards to the highest peak of Pantokrator. On our approach to Corfu town we sail close to the island of Vidos.
Mooring at NAOK, below the Old Fortress, it is only a few minutes walk into the pedestrian centre of this historic town.
Corfu was designated a UNESCO heritage site in 2007 thanks to its varied historical sites, especially the two fortresses.
There is a myriad of shops selling some of Corfu’s best souvenirs made of leather, goods, furs, ceramics and jewellery.
The Liston - smart coffee bars line the street overlooking the old fortress, the Palace of St Michael and St George and of course, the cricket pitch. At Liston you can sit, watch and relax, soaking up the atmosphere with a cold beer or perhaps a Corfiot ginger beer !
You can enter both the Old and New Fortresses; be respectfully dressed to enter the Church of St Spiridon with its tall red campanile; Walk into the old town area to find Campiello and the beautiful Venetian. Outside the walls of the New Fortress is a new fish, fruit and veg market.
The British cemetery, with a garden full of wild orchids in spring, is a peaceful place however, with close inspection the headstones tell the tale of the chequered history of Corfu.
The Archaeological museum just off Garitsa Bay behind the Corfu Palace hotel and the Museum of Asian Art is located in the Palace of St Michael and St George.
You will have about 3 hours free before setting sail for your leisurely homeward journey.
On our return we will first sail south to show off Corfu’s most famous landmark – Mouse Island. This is a perfect chance to see this picturesque island and take an album-full of photos before turning for home.
